Externally Referenced Drawings (Xref)

 

Menu: Tools>Inserts>Xref Manager...

Default keyboard shortcut: None

 

WireCAD v3 provides the ability to externally reference another drawing or drawings within the current drawing. Launching this function will display the Xref Manager dialog. From this dialog you can attach, detach, reload, and manage the layers of externally referenced drawings.

Attach Externally Referenced Drawing File: Used in conjunction with the <Browse> button to select a drawing file to link with in the current drawing. The incoming drawing will be inserted at the Placement X,Y coordinates using the Scale and Rotation settings.

 

Send to Back: sets the display order of the incoming file so that it appears behind native drawing objects.

Description

Detach Externally Referenced Drawing File:

Detaches (removes)  the selected drawing file.

Reload Externally Referenced Drawing File:

Reloads the selected drawing file and updates the current drawing with any changes made to the external drawing.

Manage Xref Layers:

Allows you to control layers for the selected drawing. Select a drawing and click <OK>. You will see the standard Layers dialog. Make the desired changes and click <OK>. You may need to regenerate the drawing to see the changes.
