Database Transfer and Sychronization

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Sometimes it is desirable to transfer the data from one database to another. WireCAD provides a means by which to do this.

Place databases in the ...\WireCAD5\DBUpdates\ folder for automatic synchronization with existing databases. Synchronization will occur upon launching the program.

Note: In order for the program to recognized the database, they must be named as follows:

Equipment database should be named -- dbEquip.mdb

Project Manager database should be named -- dbPM.mdb

Your existing databases will be renamed to dbEquipOld.mdb and dbPMold.mdb and replaced with the newly synchronized version. If you need to revert, rename the old ones.

Your existing databases are given priority so that if you have made any changes or additions, they should not be discarded. However, conflicts can occur. If a conflict occurs, you will be notified. Use the conflict resolver (Databases>Resolve Conflicts) to determine which records to keep or discard.
