Function:

Adds Inputs and Outputs to the lists and subsequently to functional diagrams.

How To: Add Inputs and Outputs to Equipment

Assumes that you have already created the manufacturer (if needed) and the equipment.

1. Select the Equipment from the Find tab list
2. Switch to the Inputs and Outputs tab
3. Type the Name of the first input in the Name field. Select the Connector Type, Signal Type and Pin Styles.
4. Determine whether the information you just entered is to go to the Inputs List, the Outputs List or Both.
5. Click <Add New> to add a single record.
6. To add multiple I/O. Proceed with steps 1-4. Instead of selecting <Add New>, enter the number of Inputs/Output to multiply by in the textbox. Here we will add four Video outputs. Note the "-" character appended to the Name field. You must add this or any other delimiter otherwise the numeric sequence will be appended directly to the Name field string.
7. Click <Multiply By -->>
8. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Add Inputs and Outputs to List

Add to Which List option

Clicking <Add New> or <Multiply By -->> will add the current values to the selected option.

Inputs: Adds to the Inputs list only.

Outputs: Adds to the Outputs list only.

Both: Adds to both the Inputs and Outputs list simultaneously.

Name

The name of the port.

Connector Type combo

The Connector of the port.

Note: This field supports direct entry. Items added here will also be added to the Connectors database.

Signal Type combo

The Signal Type of the port.

Note: This field supports direct entry. Items added here will also be added to the Signal Types database.

Input Pin Style combo

Normal or Looped input:

Output Pin Style combo

Normal or Bridged output:

Add a single row based on the Add to Which List option

<Multiply By -->> button and textbox

Add multiple rows based on the Add to Which List option, the Number of Rows entered and the Starting @ number.

Example: Let's say you want to add 32 video inputs and outputs to the selected equipment.

1.	You would enter VID- or VIDEO- in the Name field and fill in the Signal Type, Connector, and pin styles data.

2.	Select Both from the Add to Which List option

3.	Enter 32 in the text box:

4. Enter 1 in the Starting @: field. This starts us counting at number 1.

5. Click <Multiply By -->> .

32 records will be added to each the Inputs and Outputs lists formatted as follows:

Retain the data in the Name, Connector, Signal Type, etc fields after an Add New or Add Multiple function.
