There are some key basics that differentiate WireCAD from other applications. We will attempt to briefly outline them here.
• | WireCAD is project based. That means that you create a new project and assign that project to be the current project. It is key to know what the current project is because work done in an active drawing is automatically associated with the current project. To set the current project, open the Project Explorer and use the drop-down at the top: |
• | A project can have any number of drawings associated with it. |
• | Project database entries are made during key assignment functions. For example: when you assign a unique system identifier or cable number the data will be validated against and added to the current project database. |
• | When you open an existing drawing it is automatically associated with the current project. This may have undesirable effects. To remove a drawing from the project drawings database right-click on the closed drawing in the Project Explorer and select Remove Selected Drawing. |
• | There is now a Project Open function. Use this if you have removed the project from the Project Manager list. To use a project from another machine use the Project>Utilities>Unpack Existing Project function. |
