How To Use An Existing Drawing In A Current Project
Step | Description |
---|---|
With your current project open, Click File>Open Project or enter o into the Command Line | |
Drill down until you find the drawing you would like to use and Click [open >] button | The drawing will be located in the save folder you specified for that project. Example MyDocuments>Project1>EquipmentRoom13>FileA |
At this point you will be asked if you would like to Copy before opening | If you are simply using the exact drawing (Not changing anything) you can Click [No >]. If you plan to make any changes to the drawing you will want to Click [Yes >] By clicking yes it will make a copy of your drawing into your current projet folder therefore not editing your existing drawing from your previous project. |
Enter your project name, description, path, and lead person | The Project Name must follow file naming conventions because we are going to make a folder with the project name. |
Click [Next >] button | |
Inspect the information about where we are going to create the project. If all is well click the [Finish] button. | Your new project will be created.

Project File Structure
We will create a project folder wherever you selected and two subfolders:
- YourProjectName
- -Drawings
- -Project Databases
If you opted for SQL Server databases your Project Databases folder will be empty. This is normal since the database files reside on the server.
