Summary: Occasionally the filebased databases (VISTADB) will need to be compacted or Packed. This is different from a Packup and Go. The Pack function is run from outside WireCAD using the VistaDB Data editor.

Note: If you are getting concurrency error 455, follow this procedure:

  1. Close WireCAD and any connections to the databases this will mean having all WireCAD users shut down.
  2. Click Windows Start>All Programs>WireCAD>Utilities>VistaDB Data Editor.
  3. On the VistaDB Data Editor there is a drop down box for file access mode. Set it to Exclusive Read-Write Access.
  4. Click File>Open.
  5. Browse to the Project Databases folder and find the file YOURPROJECTNAME.vdb3 (*.vdb6 if using 10.1 or later), (if you need to pack your Global Equipment Database it is called WireCADGlobalEquipment.vdb3(*.vdb6 if using 10.1 or later). Check Here... for path information.
  6. On the main pane will be a Pack button. Click it. IMPORTANT! Don't kill the process or your data is hosed.
