The process cannot access the file xxxxxx.xxx because it is being used by another process.

If you are getting an error that looks like this:

The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\Public\Documents\WireCAD\WireCAD8\WireCADGlobalEquipment.vdb3' because it is being used by another process.

This can also happen on your project databases as well.

Cause

There are two reasons that this could be occurring.

1. Antivirus is trying to make sure that we are not doing anything unacceptable.
2. Automated backup tools are trying to get at the file at the same time we are.

Remedy

1. Create an exception in the antivirus software for c:\program files\wirecadx\bin\WireCADx.exe
2. Temporarily shut of the backup tool until your WireCAD session is over.
